Vintage Commercial Promotions

Today I post a second lot of the vintage aviation commercial promotions.

There was something in the air in the early years of commercial aviation. Perhaps more excitement, perhaps more glamorous stewardesses… in any case, it’s worth savoring once again.

  1. It is difficult to believe that many of these women are now grandmothers. I envy those who got to fly PSA in the days of these lovelies, and envy even more those guys who got to date and marry some of these gorgeous women.

  2. I applied for a stewardess position at PSA in 1970. On the application form were (required) questions regarding the following measurements: height, weight, bust waste, hips, calves, ankles, wrists. Also required: both face and full length photos.

Unfortunately, something must have been wrong with me… I was not invited to interview with PSA. I did though get hired by Braniff a few months later. Personally, I think I was a real winner to not have flown for PSA in that period. They were flying cocktail bar style stewardesses.

Ask these veterans how they felt aboyut their treatment, and how many moved on the other airlines as soon as they could.
